Description

Here we are talking about the new version(2013) of Muscle Pharm Assault. The scoop size is smaller, though I don’t think it can be classified as “ultra-concentrated” just yet. It has about 200mg of caffeine per scoop now, which I’ve been hearing can be a bit much for your first time use so you may want to start of with a half scoop. Also on that note, they’ve included a new type of caffeine that is suggested to be more of a time released formula ( so you don’t have a big crash afterwards). They’ve also thrown in about 500mg more Beta alanine per scoop and a handful more vitamins like C, B3, and E.

The largest difference with the new formula, is the amount of nitrates – from a variety of sources. Such as Red Beet Extract High in Nitrates, CreNitrate, ArgNitrate, BCAA Nitrate 3:1:2. Nitrates are suggested to improve vasodilation and blood flow throughout our muscle cells to amplify nutrient transfer to our muscles when they need it the most. This does mean that we are only getting about 1 gram of Creeatine Nitrate per serving, but with the more advanced forms of Creatine coming out these days, the makers of Assault are quick to assure us that this is enough, pre-workout at least.

I’m still awaiting my samples of the new Assault to arrive in the mail, but from what I’ve been hearing online and from close friends, I won’t be disappointed.

About the old Assault : I’ve come to know MP Assault as one of my go to pre-workouts to come back to after testing out other options. It’s works really well for me not only at the gym, but for sports like soccer and football as well. For golf? Not so much… It’s been reliable and effective time and time again, even nearer the end of the tub – which can’t be said for all pre-workouts. Assault is in the top 3 that I recommend to friends when they ask me for a good pre-workout.

More In Depth

  • Value- 9

Coming in at about $30 per container, the price of Assault is pretty decent at just under a $1 per serving. Anything under $1 per serving is going to get a 9 in this category, and Assault made the mark.

    Energy/Focus- 9.5

Alright, next is energy and focus. Assault uses a combination of Caffeine, Taurine, Tyrosine, and Choline. The whopping 150mg of caffeine per half scoop will certainly get the heart pumping, and energy levels up. Along with Taurine, Tyrosine, and Choline to enhance your focus and drive. From using it myself, I can tell you that it definitely works. It made me feel energized, motivated, and ready to hit the gym.

    Endurance- 10

That brings us to the next part. In terms of Endurance, Assault is one of the best. I could feel a noticeable improvement in my stamina at the gym, but even more so during a game of football. It felt like I could run faster, and for longer periods of time continuously throughout the game. It uses a combination of B Vitamins, BCAA’s, Glutamine, Beta Alanine, and Citrulline Malate to accomplish this. Another nice touch is the electrolyte blend to help you stay hydrated.

    Strength Gains- 10

Assaults’ potential for helping you make gains at the gym is really high. Creatine being the most weighty factor in this category, Assault has 5 grams worth per serving – from 3 different sources. That alone gives it a high rating. The 2 grams of Beta Alanine also pump up Assaults’ score – This is the stuff that makes your skin tingle. Over the course of 1 month of using it, I was able to up my weights on bench press, and leg press too.

    Taste/Mixability- 9.5

Last, but certainly not least comes the flavor and mix. It comes in a pretty wide variety of flavors, like fruit punch, orange mango, watermelon, and a couple others. For the most part, not too many people have something bad to say about the taste. I personally had the watermelon, and the flavor was excellent and surprisingly very watermelony. I did notice a tiny little after burn near the bottom of shaker cup though, probably from the Creatine. So I arrived at a 9.5 for this rating score.

  1. Assault is by far my favorite pre-wo so far…. I’ve tried quite a number in my day, but always like coming back to it. top notch in my books. Green apple is delicous

  2. I’ve been using Assault for past couple weeks, stuff is pretty awesome. gives me a ton more energy and keeps me goin longer it. Not a huge fan of watermelon flavor, buuuut not too bad still. Great overall

  3. I agree, Assault i sgreat. I use it mainly for my soccer games, with some cardio days as well. Keeps my energy up , and defs improves my stamina. Repeat buyer here 🙂

  4. 3 out of 5

I just finished a full tub of assault, and the effects were good. but a bit strong for me. even at the 1/2 scoop mark, I was feelin a bit jittery. Perhaps just me and my low tolerance but, hard to say. Did give me good workouts though.

  5. 4 out of 5

Assault is no doubt one of the better pre-workouts out in terms of both taste and results. If your looking to get off stims then try this one out.

  6. 5 out of 5

I’m also a big fan, though I’m not crazy about sour apple flavor. Makes me cringe like biting into a … unripe Granny smith apple….lol \. Very sour, IMO anyways. Effects are still awsome

  7. 4 out of 5

I’ve been a muscle pharm fan for a while, but I can’t say I approve of the ingredients switch either in the new one. Still works pretty well I’ll admit, but i gotta up my creatine separately. Boo.

  8. 5 out of 5

I really like this new formula and use it once in awhile so I don’t build a tolerance to it.
