Today we are talking about NO Xplode Ignitor Shots from BSN. The ingredients look very similar to NO Xplode itself, except that these are free of Creatine. While the Ignitor shots are very handy to have when you’re on the go, whether or not you want to pay that premium price could deter you from making the purchase. I would certainly recommend this to anyone, but whether or not they would be willing to pay for it is a different story all together. Just keep in mind that it does not contain any Creatine whatsoever, and you will need to add your own if you want to use Creatine. As for buying it again, I probably would someday when I have more money than I know what to do with, but for now I’ll be sticking with my regular mix-it-yourself kinds of pre-workouts. Convenient, and effective choice, just a bit expensive.
Of course, the Value rating is where the Ignitor shots loses a lot of points. Coming in at about $27 per 12 bottles, making each bottle cost around $2.25. This is not cheap in the world of pre-workouts that usually cost between $0.70 – $1.25 per serving. But of course, what you’d be paying for is the convenience of being able to just grab a bottle and drink, instead of the whole mixing process. There are a couple of ways to look at this. 1. In comparison to other pre-workouts this is very expensive. 2. In comparison to an energy drink you could find at the gas station, it is cheaper (at least where I am in the world) and will be a lot more beneficial to you. If you want to pay for the extra convenience, they are a great choice.
Alright, next is energy and focus. This is the Ignitor shots top category. They use a combination of Caffeine, Taurine, Tyrosine, and Huperzine A to ramp up your energy and focus. I had to buy one of these just to give it a shot; I took it on my way to the gym after work one day and I felt a big boost in my mental alertness, energy, and motivation to get to the gym and start going. I found it to be very effective, and also not having to worry about mixing, or having it spill in my gym bag was a nice touch to the experience.
That brings us to the next category, on endurance. The Ignitor shots do fairly well here still. I felt that my mental endurance was incredible, and so was the physical but nearer to the end of my workout, I could feel a bit of a crash coming on. Not quite as bad as NO Xplode, but still a crash. To do this, it uses a combination of B-Vitamins, the Taurine and Tyrosine mentioned above, Arginine, L-Citrulline, and finally an electrolyte blend to help keep you hydrated throughout your workout.
Strength Gains- 5
This is another category where the Ignitor Shot doesn’t do very well. It doesn’t contain any Creatine, or Beta Alanine which are worth the most points in this category. It does however contain some Betaine HCL which has been shown to help you make strength gains. This is not a big deal if you take your Creatine separately anyways, or if you don’t want to use Creatine at all.
Last, but certainly not least comes the flavor and mix. Of course, there is no mixing to be done, so its gets a perfect score in that category. From looking around at others people thoughts on the taste, it seems people mostly agree that the flavor is pretty decent, although they lack in the amount of flavors available. At the time of my writing this, they only have Blue Raz, and Green Apple. I used Green Apple, and I really liked the taste. I was never a fan of NO Xplodes Blue Razz flavor though, so, choose whichever one sounds best to you and you should be satisfied.
